Hyderabad is the capital of the Indian state of Telangana and de jure capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is a historic city with a rich cultural heritage, and is known for its many monuments, mosques, temples, and bazaars. Hyderabad was founded in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. It was initially known as Bhagyanagar or "City of Fortune".
