Hyderabad : City of Pearls

 Hyderabad is the capital of the Indian state of Telangana and de jure capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is a historic city with a rich cultural heritage, and is known for its many monuments, mosques, temples, and bazaars. Hyderabad was founded in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. It was initially known as Bhagyanagar or "City of Fortune". The city was later renamed Hyderabad after its patron saint, Hazrat Hyder Ali Khan.

Hyderabad is located on the banks of the Musi River in southern India. It has an area of 650 square kilometers (250 sq mi) and a population of over 8 million people. The city is divided into two parts: Old City and New City. The Old City is home to many historical monuments such as Charminar, Golconda Fort, Mecca Masjid, Chowmahalla Palace, Salar Jung Museum and Birla Mandir. The New City has modern buildings such as HITEC City (Hyderabad Information Technology Engineering Consultancy City), Cyber Towers and Cyber Gateway.

Hyderabad is known for its delicious cuisine which includes biryani (a rice dish cooked with spices), haleem (a stew made with wheat and meat), kebabs (grilled meat) and kulfi (an ice cream-like dessert). Hyderabadi cuisine also includes dishes from other parts of India such as North Indian curries and South Indian dosas.

The city has a vibrant culture with many festivals celebrated throughout the year such as Bonalu (a Hindu festival celebrated in July/August), Eid-ul-Fitr (marking the end of Ramadan) and Ganesh Chaturthi (celebrating Lord Ganesha). There are also several art galleries showcasing traditional art forms such as Kalamkari paintings, Bidriware metalwork and Pembarthi woodcarvings.

Hyderabad is home to several educational institutions including Osmania University, University College of Engineering Osmania University, International Institute Of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H), National Institute Of Fashion Technology Hyderabad (NIFT-H) and Indian School Of Business Hyderabad (ISB-H). It also has several research institutes such as Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) and Centre for DNA Fingerprinting & Diagnostics (CDFD). 

The city has a well-developed infrastructure with an international airport at Shamshabad which connects it to major cities around the world. There are also several railway stations in the city which connect it to other parts of India. The local transport system consists of buses operated by TSRTC which connect different parts of the city together.
